Friday the 20th November, we met for the last time to watch everybody’s videos. It was very interesting seeing the final result and how far everybody has come. I really liked all the videos and even though they all were more or less about Remix Culture they were all very different. Most using a lot of found-footage, some using voice-over, others using their own songs.

It was nice seeing everything kind of come together again, after everybody had been rather busy with writing the last couple of weeks. It felt as if we had not only researched about Remix Culture but also participated in it actively, which is nice.

I really liked the course and I will certainly miss having a look at what’s happening on YouTube and discussing it in class or talking about current issues, like the Kanye West or the Dan Bull incident.

Tomorrow in class I have to present a new trailer of my video. So what I’ve been doing today basically is: working on it, trying to make it look good and better than before. But as I have only bought sony vegas movie studio 9 (I worked with windows movie maker before and that sucks, so I decided to get the editing software we got recommended after all), a while ago, I still have to learn many things and have not been as fast as I wanted to. But the trailer is now ready to be presented in class. I’m excited to see what the others will think of it. Hopefully they have some good suggestions about how to improve it for the final version which is due together with my paper on the 20th of november.

still image, old greek picture, -> longer! zoom in! more explicitly, back up inspired by others… -> love triangle sketch! emphazise point of plot being the same…

mistakes in trailer

During class today I discovered some mistakes in my trailer. At some points in the video you can’t read what is actually on screen as it goes too fast and is too small to read. I will change that during the weekend. But until then I hope you still can enjoy watching the video and that the point comes across I’m trying to make. If it doesn’t, just read some posts and you’ll get a better picture of what I want to do.

I still need a good title for my research project. That is something else that came out in class today. I have to think about that as well. It has to be something catchy and interesting, but kind of “scholary” as well… Hm. We’ll see. I will have more time to think about it during the weekend.

I have just finished my second trailer!! Wonderful!

After continuous problems with WindowsMovieMaker I decided to download a test version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9. So far I like it, even though I still have some problems with it and haven’t figured out everything yet. The most difficult is the sound and precise cutting. In one or two sequences you can hear that, but I hope I will get better after a while.  And as this is not the final version of the video yet, I still have some time to get used to the new software, even though my test version will only be valid for 30 days. Maybe I’ll buy it afterwards. We’ll see. I will upload the trailer soon, so be on the lookout for that. But first I need to solve some problems with uploading it…

Until Wednesday night we have to upload our final draft for our video into our blog. I’ve been trying during the last days to gather more information about my research question and have been thinking about the plot of my video a lot. I have not come up with a final storyline yet, but I have some ideas. So be on the look out for my new video, as I’ve already done some new editing and will do some more the latest on Tuesday.

I finished my first trailer! It took ages to do, but still doesn’t look really good, helplessly unprofessional. It is the first video I’ve ever done, so I hope I’ll improve after some time. But to my defence I have to add, that I didn’t really have good equipment ( I didn’t even have a tripod which I would have desperately needed to get that shaky movement out of the video). Anyway, I hope it will give an idea of what I intend on researching this semester about. But I will not upload it yet; I will first present it in class tomorrow and then see what I will do with it, as I have the slight notion that it violates copyright…
